Yes, Obamamania is in full effect and I'm all in it! Save for a few buttons left over from the campaign, I scarcely have one piece of memorabaila but, I cannot deny that I am enjoying the frenzy of this moment. One businessman (among others) has said that "Obama is his own stimulus package." He can say that because he owns the company that manufactured the campaign's offical buttons; his company made $16M, on Obama buttons alone, in 2008. Another political souvenir retailer in Washington DC, says that he has been in business for 28 years and has never seen anything like it, he went on to add that 'except for Jesus and The Pope,' he had never witnessed such a huge demand for the likeness of a public figure. I do not know if he voted for Obama or not but given the mere mention of Obama's name, all he could say is, "I love that man."
This Washington Postarticle says we all should have ditched the stocks and bonds last year, and invested in Obama baby bibs :-)

When I first saw this book, I thought, "Another Obama book, whatever..." Later, I would actually take the time to open it up and I thought, "Wow, this is something we all should have." Deborah Willis and, my friend, Kevin Merida, actually did an excellent job capturing the imagery and momentum of the entire campaign. Obama: The Historic Campaign in Photographs is a must have!
This is a lovely commemorative website, following Obama on the road to the White House. Hosted by the Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), it also includes "Great Presidential Speeches" and a "Presidential Quiz: www.smh.com.au

I don't know about you, but I thoroughly got a kick out of seeing the Inauguration rehearsal footage. I thought it was interesting that the only likeness they thought to emulate was Obama's. (I mean, that looks nothing like Michelle, and you should've seen Joe Biden, LOL!) And, I wonder how this Sgt. Brooks must've felt - getting to be Obama for a day. Anyway, it has just been amazing to bear witness to this all! More on the story HERE.

Here's an excerpt from an article from WELT ONLINE - an English news site heavily covering Obama, our Inauguration, as well as other news from around the world. When my friend called me from Spain on election night, there was no question in my mind that Obamamania had swept the world. Sentiments like these though, are the primary reasons why I thought Obama should be our President. But, the reasons are many, of course:
"Since its revolution of 1979, Iran’s leadership has painted America as a racist, bloodthirsty power bent on oppressing Muslims worldwide. Nothing punctures this narrative more than the election of an African-American, Barack Obama, who supports dialogue with Iran and whose middle name – Hussein– is that of the central figure in Shi’a Islam."
