Truth
Truth is….none of us will ever
know the truth…. about September 11th …..or anything
for that matter. Were there, in fact, 4000 Israeli’s
absent from work on the morning of the 11th? Was our very
own United States government part and parcel of the dastardly
deed? The accusations loom, but guess what? We will never
know. What happens after death? (Perhaps the most perplexing
question of all times.) We will never know….at least,
not in this lifetime.
Truth, when it comes to the abstract
(religion, philosophy, etc.), is relative. It all depends
on your perspective; when and where you were born, your family,
your teachers, your culture. At the end of the day, abstract
truth is simply what feels right to you in your heart; for
not a single human being alive today was here to witness the
miraculous births of Jesus, Buddha, or Krishna so….if
you believe (in whatever you believe in) it’s because
that’s what feels right to you in your heart. Abstract
belief is certainly not based on any tangible proof. It is
based on what we have been told and what we have read. And,
black words on white pages do not necessarily constitute truth.
Don’t get me wrong though, I am an advocate of unseen
truth. I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ, Buddha,
and Krishna. Quiet as it’s kept (I don’t say this
around many religious folk), I believe in just about everything
– The Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus notwithstanding (…but,
that’s another story). There is a principle by which
you measure the distance from an oncoming Mack truck to your
ass: it is called discretion. The same principle (with hopes)
applies to the measurement of truth.
As far as concrete truths. There are
some things of which we are certain – people are born
and die each day, and the WTC is definitely down! There is
absolutely nothing abstract about that. (If you don’t
believe what you saw on the news – go to Ground Zero
and take a look, like thousands of other tourists each day.)
Why these things occur, well…..those are truths we may
never know. The only people who really know the truth about
a thing are the people who were the cause of and/or witness
to the thing in question. The rest of us can only speculate,
or…wait for DNA results ;-) We can wade through white
pages upon white pages of black words and…..at the end
of the day….it is ours to decide in whom we trust, and
what feels like educated truth in our hearts.
Truths have always been hidden….behind
pasty media smiles, anthems, propaganda, patriotism. Now more
than ever, we have to find our truths; dig beyond the black
and white, the remote control, the flickering screen…the
preacher in the pulpit. Now is the time for questioning –
not following. For challenging. For reckoning with our pasts,
this new age, and our clearly uncertain futures. Truth is
in your heart. You know it. If you shut-up long enough, you
can feel it. I can recount only three times in my life, when
I amazed myself at how clearly one knows the truth when listening
to the heart: At the births of both of my children, and on
the morning of September 11th. These are moments I can look
back on and think, “Damn….I know the truth,”
even when there’s no sign of it in sight.

The Omo Misha Foundation
– I didn’t know the meaning of red tape til I
started down this road !!! Anyway…I have planted the
seed but the flower is slow to blossom. The thing with cultivating
plants though, is there is a lot going on underground before
you actually see the physical signs (…a leaf perhaps)
of a product. That’s where faith comes in. That said,
it may be several more months before we are actually up and
running. If this is your first time hearing about the foundation
(or you have forgotten) The Omo Misha Foundation (aka Foundation
for Learning Differences) will assist Dyslexic youths with
resources and finances in obtaining appropriate educational
services. Feel free to contact me for more details. If you
or someone you know would like to be a part of this organization,
please let me know.
That’s All Folks!!!
