It has been determined: The world looooooooves a party….and
Festivals.com knows that - that’s why they list a whopping
38,000 festivals world-wide! Festivals gets 68, 000, 000 hits
per month; which translates into about 200, 000 visitors.
A clear indication that people are on the prowl for not just
any party….but for the biggest party they can find….anywhere
on the planet they can find it!

I think we forgot something…..?
September 11th created a FANTASTIC diversion from some very
critical, political issues like….Why in the HELL is
George W. Bush president? Among the many hypotheses posed
as to the hows and whys and September 11th, was the implication
that it (9/11) may have, in fact, been staged for the express
purpose of diverting attention away from the ‘then prevalent’
election debacle. ( I didn’t say it – like so
many things, I just heard it!) Anyway, although we’ve
got a lot on our plates right now, we musn’t lose sight
of something: We didn’t elect this man! Some of you
may have voted for Bush but, even you know, that he did NOT
win the presidency. There is nothing we can do about it now,
but we can certainly work (with our Senators and Representatives)
to ensure that EVERY vote is counted in the future. Visit:

Dr. Natasha (aka the Sex Doctor) says that we would all do
ourselves a favor by approaching love-making as if we know
nothing at all. The problem with most people, she suggests,
is that we think we know how to do it. If we would continue
to educate ourselves, assuming nothing, more of us might actually
be having more fun in bed. I heard Dr. Natasha on the radio
in Detroit. She was very entertaining as well as informative,
and although she is hailed as the next Dr. Ruth, I have yet
to figure out her credentials – oh well…..to hell
with credentials! Check out her site if you dare: www.thesexdr.com
Fun (and also scary!) looking toys, although I’m certainly
NOT into those kinds of things ;-) You might also want to
take a look at this site, also recommended by Dr. Natasha:

. I was too chicken to go there after visiting the Sex Dr.
site. Let me know what you find.
Wraps….
They
never dissipate….they only recreate to another place
and time. (Name that tune...well, sort of).
Anyway, there are a few things in fashion
– like animal print, for instance – that just
don’t go away. The wrap skirt is one such item. With
each season, comes the invention of new and more simplistic
ways to sport them. Jon Berry (of Exodus) has perfected this
season’s wrap skirt. The Exodus Industrial Wrap is perfect
for office into evening. It is contoured, easy-to-wear (no
fussing and tying – with “Industrial Velcro”
it practically wraps itself!). Sophisticated and sexy, the
asymmetrical wrap (seen in photo) is perfect for showing off
a bad pair of boots...or, just one knobby knee (also shown
in photo) :). Made in wool nylon, the Exodus wraps are available
in natural shades and plaids. This is just a phenomenal piece
- If Jon no longer has it in store, I’m sure Mr. Franklin
can convince him to whip one up for you. Sells for $130. (Yes,
that is my knobby knee!) Exodus 771 Fulton St. Bklyn NY 11217

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble
getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota
of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged
woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and
click on "Fund Free Mammograms" for free (pink window
in the middle). (There is nothing
to sign up for and no cost to you.) The corporate sponsors/advertisers
use
the number of daily visits to donate a mammogram in exchange
for advertising.
Here's the website - Pass it along to all your friends!!

Late Bloomers…there is

Nathaniel Saunders was the inspiration behind the Ernest Hemingway
classic, “The Old Man and The Sea”. A musician,
griot, and fishing buddy to Hemmingway, Saunders has never
seen the point in traveling beyond the seas and sands of his
beloved isle of Bimini. (Can you blame him?) Having lived
out his days and nights on the tiny Bahamian island that Hemmingway
referred to as “the end of the world,” Mr. Saunders
has just cut his first album of original tunes. Saunders performs
on the album with his band, Piccolo Pete and the Buccaneers.
The recording features songs he wrote as long as 70 years
ago. The sound is unpolished and authentic; definitely Caribbean,
but spliced through with a 1950s ballad sound.
In the vein of Cesaria Evoria and The
Buena Vista Social Club, Saunders emerges at 89, as a true,
yet undiscovered talent. (Yes, there is hope for me STILL!)
The resulting CD/DVD, entitled “Bimini Nights”
was released this year by Victory World Records, a label best
known for being involved with underground rock. It includes
an hour long interview with Saunders during which he regales
listeners with the tales that inspired his compositions. He
also takes viewers behind the scenes of “The Old Man
and the Sea”, which he helped Hemingway write. As a
bonus, the DVD includes a history of Bimini, a mini-cookbook
of favorite Bahamian recipes, a photo archive and footage
from the recording sessions. All filming and recording was
done on location at Saunders’ bar. For more information
